When I bought my 88 Savage last year it had a starter clutch problem - the big starter clutch gear and the small "double" starter idle gear and its pin were severely broken - 5-6 teath of the big gear were missing and 1 tooth of the idle too and the pin was "screwed".I tried to find new gears and finally succeeded. Then it came tha oil consumption problem that was fixed by puting new piston and boring the cylinder. When I tought all is OK and went to the annual motorcycle meeting on the Black sea coast my starter again went out of order. This time broke all the other parts that were not broken firt time - the first(small)starter idle gear-one tooth missing and the tooth of the starter motor was broken too. This time I will not wait 3 months to get them, but will make them - a mechanic is making all kinds of gears and said that this is a "childrens's work".The problem is that I still do not know the reason for this damages - can anyone had such an umpleasant experience. I wrote in the Forum about a strange strong metal noise when engine dies but none had experienced this. Please give me some advice - I am afraid my engine cannot endure a third starter crash.
